8/30/10 - Monday

Went to see my Oncologist today – Michael A. Kolodziej, M.D   - he got my pathology report and explained to me what it was, and that I did need chemo – and that it would be for 16 weeks, and the medicine I would be getting would be Adriamycin and cyclophosphamide first then taxol.  He explained that I would lose my hair, probably by the 15th day of my treatment. He explained a lot of other stuff to me as well, about nausea and eating (lack of) and he scheduled my first apt for September 15th, 2010. before this happens  I need to have bone/cat scans and mugno scan before to make sure my heart can handle the chemo.  I do those on the Friday Sept 3&9th - then on the  13th of September I get a power port put into my chest – ah yet another thing….this way they don’t have to poke me all the time to find a vein – it could collapse your veins and be very trying I’m sure – so I’ve heard from a lot of people that the port was a godsend – and it was easy outpatient surgery (more surgery)  - so I will get that – then on the 15th I will start chemo.  He had me attend a chemo class – it would be very informative – and I could ask questions and such.
I say to him – Doc – I have to be honest is there a way I should be eating while on chemo – because now when I look down – I used to see my breast now all I see is my belly!  Yikes.  He said now isn’t the time – to worry about that – but eat healthy.
