I am on treatment #5 - I have 3 more to go. woohoo!!
Today was my first day of my new cocktail - Taxol. To start my day on Tuesday nite I had to take 5 steroid pills before bed- hmm...before bed - it makes you wide awake - and then 5 more in the morning of chemo. So, I made waffels and bacon for breakfast - needless to say waffels didnt taste good to me - garbage! so I had 2 strips of bacon- took the pills, with milk. not enough food apparently - made my stomach upset. So then since I have to give blood when I get to nyoh I drank 4 bottles of water before I left my house - I had to be there at 7:45am - that was 8.5 cups of water already! whew - So, Kevin got my blood without any trouble - whew!
Then I met with the nurse practitioner Kerry - she's very nice -I gained 15lbs - not very happy about that! so I am going to meet with a nutritionist soon, and I am going to start back walking again.
So we talked about the sideeffects of the taxol, and I admitted I was a little nervous about this treatment - since it was new - and I''ve heard woman saying not so good things about their reactions to it, but she says the nurse sits with me, for 15 minutes and does the medicine slow, to monitor me.
So, my procedure started with more steroids, pepcid, and then benedryl. wow the benedryl made me tired, almost buzzed feeling....and since I drank all that water - bathroom breaks were often this day. Then she, Lisa the nurse started the taxol, her & my mom were talking up a storm - I was thinking god is she ever going to start - Kerrie told me I'd be there 6 hours thats along time! so Lisa said do you feel any numbness or tingling in the finger....I didnt. I said thats what I can feel, when you start - she said Im done sitting with you- you've been getting it for 15 minutes already - whew! nervous for nothing....I overthink things -people who know me - know that!
Finished the taxol left there about 1:30pm - so, I started treatment at 8:45am - finished at 1:30pm - so not quite as long as was told, but ....long enough.
So, I am home full of energy - after doing this Im going to watch CMA's while I walk on treadmill for a bit -
Will keep posted they say affects dont take place for 3-4 days after treatment - this is the one where eyebrows, and lashes may fall out......not looking forward to that! but am counting down my days - 42 days to be complete with Chemo - then Merry Christmas to me!
:)
